From 12 March to 30 November 2025, the MUCA presents the first solo exhibition of the renowned contemporary artist Alexandre Farto alias Vhils in Germany.
The exhibition "Strata: Selected works: 2005 - 2025" shows a comprehensive selection of the works of the Portuguese artist from the past two decades. Experience the development of his unmistakable artistic style at the MUCA by means of a wide range of materials, techniques and conceptual approaches.
At the centre of Vhils' work is a profound investigation into the multi-layered nature of cities and the people who inhabit them. His technique - often subtractive, removing surfaces to reveal hidden stories - reflects the way in which time, globalisation and gentrification are shaping urban environments.
By combining different materials - including concrete, wood, metal, paper and video installations - Vhils creates powerful narratives that deeply move visitors. The artist will also be showing significant works for the first time and, to date unseen archive material from his personal collection.
For all those who are enthusiastic about contemporary and urban art, this exhibition is a must-see. indispensable
